Welcome to the official website of The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Institute (REEEI).The institute represents the Polytechnic of Namibia's dedicated commitment to serve as a national information resource base for renewable energy and sustainable energy use and management. It was officially launched in October 2006 following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Polytechnic and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). The main sponsor of REEEI is the Government of the Republic of Namibia, by way of a grant through MME. The Institute serves as an information dissemination platform and plays a leadership role in the transition knowledge from traditional energy sources and usage to a more sustainable energy economy.
REEEI technically supports recently launched National Technical Committee on Renewable Energyof the Namibian Standards Institution and the Public Committee on Renewable Energy Technologies (PUBCRET) and SENSE-Network
The Institute is working closely with the Ministry of Mines and Energy in addressing various barriers to renewable energy in Namibia.
REEEI has already engaged several stakeholders in the media (both print and radio) and others by way of direct presentations and discussions. The Institute is linking up various Polytechnic of Namibia departments with various organisations for research and development in RE & EE.
